Elijah Ho is the new classical music critic for the San Jose Mercury News (Bay Area News Group). Since 2012, he has been a regular contributor to the San Francisco Examiner, writing profiles of classical musicians performing in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has conducted over 100 interviews with musicians, ranging from Yo-Yo Ma, composer John Adams, Charles Dutoit, Leon Fleisher, David Finckel and Wu Han, to Ara Guzelimian and Richard Rodzinski.
 
Before moving to San Francisco in 2011, Ho studied Music at l’Université de Montréal where he majored in piano performance. Born in Montreal, he began formal studies at the instrument at the age of 21 after learning he had absolute pitch. His teachers were Ronald Turini, Jimmy Brière, and the gold medalist of the 1980 International Chopin Competition, Dang Thai Son. Ho also has a degree in English Literature.
